Depending on which state or province you live in, it may be possible to show an electronic copy of your ID for proof of insurance. For example, in the United States, 49 states and the District of Columbia permit drivers to show an electronic copy of their insurance card on a mobile device during a traffic stop. New Mexico is the only state where electronic proof of insurance is not explicitly accepted.
In Canada, digital certificate is not valid everywhere. The provinces where electronic car insurance certificates are recognized as valid proof of insurance are Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador.
It really depends on your car insurance company. If you have an online account with your insurance company or use a mobile application, check for the Apple Wallet link. If you see that, you can add your policy by tapping on that link. Alternatively, you can review your company’s frequently asked questions page or contact an agent.
If your company does not provide a way of adding your insurance policy to Apple Wallet, you can download the Allegory App (IOS and Android) for free to use Allegory Digital Insurance Wallet. With this, you can add and view your insurance policy whenever you want.
Moreover, Allegory helps you record your car trips, improve your driving, and help keep your family safe on the road at all times.
